Job Opportunity — Lane County Grassroots Coordinator

Oregonians for Food and Shelter is seeking a part-time Grassroots Coordinator to serve Lane County. This position will help us grow and sustain our strategic grassroots network, strengthen our membership base, and increase grassroots engagement in natural resource policy issues around the state.

Position Description: Regional Grassroots Coordinator

SUMMARY: The OFS Regional Grassroots Coordinator reports to and is supported by the OFS Grassroots Director and is responsible for maintaining and building a strategic network that will strengthen the OFS base and increase grassroots participation in local and statewide issues that impact natural resource communities. Major responsibilities are outlined below, with other duties as assigned by OFS Grassroots Director or Executive Director.

Note: This is a part time position, approximately 10-15 hours per month, on a contract basis.

Track and Monitor (2 hours per month):

  • Monitor county-level issues (ballot measures, county agendas) related to pesticides, biotech, fertilizers, and other relevant topics impacting natural resource communities

Outreach and Engagement (5-10 hours per month):

  • Plan, attend and co-facilitate county grassroots meetings with the county chair/president

  • Develop meeting agendas/minutes, email communication to support monthly meetings

  • Assist with occasional newsletter and social media content, and action alerts as needed

  • Cultivate and strengthen new and existing relationships with grassroots and other key community members and maintain organized outreach lists

  • Assist counties in organizing field tours, fundraisers, trainings, and other events to promote education (1-3 events annually)

  • Maintain strong relationship with OFS and promote two-way information flow; recruit members to OFS as appropriate

Evaluation and Reporting (1-2 hours per month):

  • Track and communicate local activities (events, participation, networking activities) regularly to OFS Grassroots Director

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in local organizing and network building

  • Relevant experience with Oregon’s natural resources sector

Compensation:

Contract basis, to be negotiated
